uh, now i get you, if you say that earning money from ads like pop-ups, and pop-unders or whole page ads, those are annoying, and you can even go to the extent where you can say its unethical.
but ads as a whole isnt bad, the inline ads, banners etc... are a must for the sites, and google, Y! and other sites try to fit it all with the contents as much as they can - thats why you dont see it, but they do it because they can employ special people to do that, who are good at these things. However the small sites may not be able to do so, but they will still need to earn money, so what they do is try to make their ads stand out, and not fitted with the content, thats how they tend to earn money.
